Noah Salak

For senior Noah Salak, steak sandwiches are sacred. When he joins the Knights of Columbus on gamedays to serve thousands of them, he’s doing more than just helping raise funds for South Bend charities; he’s taking part in a tradition that makes Notre Dame feel like coming home.

“Working the grill and cashier stand, I’ve met alumni who never miss a game, families on their first Notre Dame pilgrimage, and even fans of opposing teams impressed by the warmth of our campus. But my favorite moments came when serving my own family, lifelong Irish fans who came by during their first-ever gameday here. Sharing that experience with them felt like we were part of something truly sacred. It reminded me that Notre Dame is more than a university; it’s a family.”

During Advent and Christmas, let us cherish the simple traditions that strengthen our faith and unite our community. Though they may seem ordinary, these practices become extraordinary when approached with love, becoming the threads that weave us together in a spirit of unity and purpose.

  8. Should never squirt lighter fluid directly onto a lit fire. The fire could stream back to the container and explode.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

    • Thank you for this comment, and I hope someone at the K of C takes note. I cringed every time I saw someone do that in this video. The consequences could be so tragic!
