Audric Estimé

Notre Dame running back Audric Estimé finds strength in family and faith through the challenging but transformative experience of life as a student-athlete, emphasizing the intertwining of faith, academics, and football in shaping his journey.

“There was a heaviness on me when I went home for Christmas break, but then I talked and prayed again with my family. They reminded me that Notre Dame was the only school that brought together the three most essential things in my life right now — faith, academics, and football. I realized all my goals and dreams were on the right trajectory. I truly felt that God had a path for me, and that path was Notre Dame.

“I now see more clearly how God has been constantly present in my life, even through very difficult times, such as the loss of my mom. We know from the Christmas story of God’s great love for us and desire to be close to us. It is that same closeness that I feel here at Notre Dame, and it will always be a part of my life.”

  1. That resonates with me, Audric. I lost my mom 11/7 and my husband on 6/22, both this year. I receive these because my dad went to Notre Dame and played football at ND back in the 1930’s. I know that God is with me and that faith and love will help me through

    • After watching this story about Audric and losing his mother at a very young age hit home. Back in 1981 we lost our father at the age of 50. There’s five of us siblings with me being the oldest. The youngest is our baby sister who was 13 years old at the timing of his passing. She was outside by the pool and I knew that she needed someone to console with. It hit us very hard. 4 days before Christmas and 1 day short of our parents 30th anniversary. Moving forward, love your family like no other, we are never promised tomorrow. I had the pleasure to have met Audric after practice and he had the biggest smile on his face. He loves the connection with his fans. He is definitely a role model on and off the field. One last note, he never loses faith. God Bless

  43. Thank you for contributing your experience Audric. I was a senior in HS when I first saw ND campus ( 1955).
Having to take geometry in order to go to nursing school, I was a rebellious female like my best friend in tithe back row of a class of Sophomore males.
Father Fred was my former Latin teacher and then my math instructor. He had 4 football, season tickets at ND located under the score board in north end zone. He invited Jane and I to attend games if we agreed to drive him to the games.
Paul Horning was QB then and I fell in love with football and with ND.
Married a ND grad in 61’ and we now have 7 ND grads in our family. We will be in Cedar Grove cemetery when God calls Frank and I home, God,Faith, Family, and Notre Dame , for you and for me!
God bless you always in all ways, Marilyn Woidat

  47. My Dad passed away when I was 13, just as freshman year of high school ended. Audric speaks the truth that faith is about embracing the unknown and what is difficult.

The freshman year at ND tests every young woman and young man striving to be adults. Audric exemplifies embracing what is difficult and breaking through to the unknown as it gets revealed.

My Dad and your Mom, Audric, can see how we turned out. And we’ll see them again to chat it all through.

    Have a great Christmas Season!
