Pedro Ribeiro

Pedro Ribeiro wasn’t looking for a new job. But when the president of Notre Dame called him out of the blue to invite him to campus for a visit and interview, his path was forever changed.

“But that visit to Notre Dame transformed me. Spending the day with Fr. John and others in leadership, I was struck by their humility and singular focus. They didn’t speak of personal achievements but of the mission of the University. It was grounded in the mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross, aimed at forming both hearts and minds in the spirit of Blessed Basil Moreau’s visionary discipleship — nurturing students to live selfless lives of faith, service, and purpose. I ultimately decided that I wanted to play a part in that bigger vision.“

In this Advent season, let us reflect on the shepherds who heeded the call of the angels to visit the newborn Jesus. Inspired by what they had seen, they joined in the mission, returning joyfully to the fields, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. Let us commit ourselves to following in their footsteps, taking our place in the long line of disciples of the coming Messiah.

  2. What a beautiful and inspiring story of how the Holy Spirt moves us toward what God has planned. I’m in the reverse position, unemployed looking for a new career opportunity after 25 years in professional medical sales. I trust God will lead me unexpectedly to choice employer where I can continue to work for Him in humble service.

    God Bless you…Merry Christmas!

  5. “Something prompted me to pick it up…” Indeed, Pedro – obviously, in hindsight the Holy Spirit was at work in you that day, but it’s often not so easily discernible in the moment. Thank you for such a terrific story, and for answering that call, both literally and spiritually. I for one am overjoyed that you are a Domer…Go Irish!, and Alleluia as we celebrate Christ’s coming!
