Lisa Bevington

“Blindsided, I tripped and fell, finding myself in a shallow lake of rainwater. Nearby, a figure appeared — another person battling the storm.” A helping hand during a moment of need reminded Lisa Bevington that she’ll never be lost to her fears.

“She asked if I was OK, then offered to guide me inside, saying she could get us in with her card. Her name was Claire. We introduced ourselves, laughed a bit, and she led me through the engineering building until we reached the Morris Inn, where I could wait out the storm. I’ll never forget the look on the doorman’s face when he welcomed us in so drenched!”

Though simple, that night meant the world to me. In a time of my life with so many storms and great uncertainty, Claire — like an angel — reminded me that I am not, nor would I ever be, lost to my fears. We will soon hear the story of the angels telling the shepherds, “Do not be afraid.” They will proclaim a savior who comes to seek the lost and guide us all to the safety of heaven. When we hear his voice calling us, will we find the courage to follow?

  1. Beautiful story, heartwarming! I was happy to read that you weathered the storm and got home safely. I could hear your fear even in your retelling of this event. Thank God for people like Claire, who was there to help you in your arm of need.

  4. Angels among us…everyday, small, unassuming actions and words that reaffirm Christ’s presence in all the world. Thanks for such an inspiring story…and like the old saying goes, “pay it forward”.

  6. Hi Lisa,
I love your story, and we remember that night (3/31/23) very well. We were at the Musical, ‘Anything Goes’ in Washington Hall as our son was playing in the Pit Orchestra. We walked there from the Morris Inn where we were staying for the night and during the performance, the storm started. I’ve never seen it rain soooo hard. We, too, waited it out before walking back.
So happy to hear about your encounter with ‘Claire’.
    Merry Christmas.

  7. Your story, Lisa, reminds me that each day I likely don’t truly see all the small miracles surrounding me. I will consciously more alert. I’ve had such a fortunate life, a life of little miracles that kept me aloft. How many angels did I not acknowledge?
Thank you for your blessed reminder, Lisa ❤️
