Carroll Hall: Chapel of St. Andre Bessette
“But wisdom is vindicated by her works.” (Matthew 11)
Today’s stop on our Advent Pilgrimage is Carroll Hall, whose chapel is dedicated to St. André Bessette. André was a simple doorman who tended to the sick who came to St. Joseph Oratory, and he is now the first canonized saint of the Congregation of Holy Cross. As we pray here in this chapel which honors St. André, we call to mind his simple holiness that, to the world, looked like foolishness.
Let us not sell ourselves and others short. Let us acknowledge what greatness God can do in and with our lives, and ask ourselves: where do we see God quietly working in our lives today, in ways we do not understand?
My wife and I had a conversation last night that has left both of us in wonder of the grace of God. In two distinct experiences, my wife and I each felt the calling to reach out and help a particular family. This family has a remarkable woman with 6 foster children. How she does it, alone, I have no idea. We have “known” her for years and yet last night my wife and I realized that we didn’t Really know her. Now, we must act on this calling; which we both can’t wait to do. And we pray that we may be helpful to her and her children this Christmas. And over the rest of our lives.
It’s clear, (yet again) to me that God is clearly working in our lives, if we will only just listen.
Yes, God truly does work in our lives, I really do believe that. These chapel videos are helping me during the Advent season.
I enjoyed so much this young man from Carrol Hall! Joanne Eagan
O Yes I am from Pensacola where Luke is from and he is such a spiritual giant and an awesome basketball player. Norte Dame is so blessed to have him and what a beautiful reflection.
