Museum at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart

Stop by the Basilica Museum with Susan Montalbano, Coordinator of Tours and Hospitality at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

“With each new visitor, I am reminded of the importance of maintaining the integrity of our history and of our duty to convey the truth of that history to everyone who passes through here. Even in the busiest times, that mission grounds me, and I find peace knowing that in this sacred place, history lives on.”

As we remember the truth of the coming of the Savior, how can we also be authentic messengers of the history of our faith that has been handed down to us from generation to generation?

  1. Absolutely delightful, and also a wonderful surprise. On each of our last three football weekend trips (2016-2018) we stopped by the Basilica Museum and had the good fortune to speak with Mrs. Montalbano. Her pleasant demeanor and willingness to share her wealth of knowledge with us always added value and enjoyment to our campus visit.

  2. As a Notre Dame student in the sixties I didn’t have an appreciation of the history contained in the Museum. After getting the daily Gospel readings and seeing the Saints of the day some day I want to go back to Notre Dame and spend time in the Museum.

  3. I am coming to Notre Dame campus on 12/31. I am hoping to visit some of sacred places I get to watch during Advent I try to visit the campus every year between Christmas and New Years. My sacred place is walking campus early morning when it is very still, when hardly anyone is around, you actually feel the Love of Notre Dame

  11. I love all of the reflections on sacred places at Notre Dame. For some reason, when I click on the link in my email, Safari can’t open the page? I have to go directly to the website.

  14. As someone who worked with Sue as one of the tour guides in the Basilica for a year I always enjoyed showing visitors the museum when I had the privilege of conducting a tour. I loved reading about the different artifacts that was on display whether they were some of Father Sorin’s belongings or if they belonged to another Holy Cross Priest. Thanks for the video Sue Merry Christmas & Go Irish
