Paige Jackson

From a chance ride in the rain to bonds of radical friendship, Paige Jackson’s journey at Notre Dame embodies the uncommon kindness and authentic connections of a family community that ripples with care.

“As I settled into my role over my first year, I eventually met three incredible women who I connected with. I can’t remember the day we decided this, but we talked about radical friendship. It was an extension of the concept of radical hospitality. Because the four of us had no blood relatives from the area, we understood the value of a support system. Our faith and commitment allowed us to open up with one another.

“During Advent, we remember that the Holy Family also had a community and a support system ready to help them, even despite their unusual circumstances. That kind of radical hospitality and friendship ripples out to make the world a better place. This is the kind of care we find at Notre Dame.”

  2. I’ve heard it said umpteen times that students find their ND family in their residence halls. Paige has made it clear that family-like relationships occur amongst staff as well.

Yesterday a comment spoke about kinship. This is it!

4 also seems to be a very manageable, practical number from which to form A Community. Peace.

  14. What a great testimony! The support system you speak of is so important. I am a 3L at Fordham Law. As a non-traditional student with grown children (son, ND ’17) I didn’t think I needed it because of my supportive husband and family, therefore didn’t seek it. The journey has been difficult and isolating, but ND folks like you help to lift me up! It is a special place! Thank you, God bless and all the best as you work and grow!!!

  16. I still recall the words that my math teacher said to us as a class back in the 60’s about ND…he took a summer course there at the time…paraphrasing…to really understand what Notre Dame is, you rally need to walk the campus & feel what ND is really like…I have been fortunate to attend many Football games with friends & we cherish all our times that we attend…I certainly feel what Paige is saying…

  20. I am originally from Chicago, now living in Florida. When I fly to Notre Dame I start to notice familiar midwest values on the plane: helpfulness, genuine kindness, and friendly neighbors to sit next to. I feel like I am going home. When I step on the ND campus those values are amplified by the power of God’s love. The campus is truly blessed and I consider it my spiritual home. Paige, I have no doubt that God’s hand formed your friendship when you needed it most. Love Thee Notre Dame☘
