Landon Slaggert

Experience the strength of family bonds with Siegfried Hall junior Landon Slaggert, as he reflects on what gives him the fortitude to play on the Fighting Irish hockey team.

“When I finally made it to Notre Dame, I also got to join my older brother, Graham, who was a junior on the team during my first year. Having my brother beside me with my dad as our coach has been a special experience, and the memories we share from this time are some that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

As we prepare for the birth of our Lord this Advent season, who are those people who help us to prepare? How do they strengthen our courage and perseverance to take on the challenges we are given so that we may glorify God in all we do?

  1. It is so wonderful to see the fruits of Family Support. What an impactful model the Slaggert family is. Thank You.

  2. Landon,
may God bless you and your family this Christmas season. Please say a special hello to your mom. I had the privilege of being with her as you and ND played in the NCAA tournament last year in Albany. It was a special time that I will always remember. Go Irish!

  3. Thank you for sharing your sacred story Landon. It is obvious your family is a great source of love and encouragement for you, as a family should be. What a beautiful blessing your particular family is!! I enjoyed hearing about your family’s history with the university and how you were lovingly encouraged to become a ND student & hockey player. Congrats on being a successful member of the ND hockey team!! My husband and I enjoy watching a game or two every season when we visit the campus. May you continue to be greatly graced by your faith, loving family, and your experiences as both a ND student and hockey player. A very merry Christmas to you! May your winter break with family be much enjoyed.

  4. Landon,
Wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Dave, father of Ethan, class of 22 and Luke, class of 24.

  5. Landon, thanks for your Advent message. God, Country, Notre Dame a message for all to cherish throughout the year. Mike Brennan, class of 1969

  6. Landon, thank you so much for sharing your story. You truly understand what it is to represent this University, on and off the ice.
Merry Christmas to you and yours

  7. Landon,
Thanks for a beautiful reflection! We look forward to seeing ND when they come up to play the Gophers each year. Merry Christmas to your mom and dad!

  8. Landon, thanks for your story. Your comments regarding those who help you prepare are so true. And, I’m betting you’d agree that if we look closely enough, we can see Christ’s hand guiding all those people towards us in our times of need. I’m also betting you are well on your way to a life filled with love, joy and faith. God Bless you.
